Drug and Alcohol Counseling

Counseling during recovery

Recovering from drug or alcohol addiction or abuse can be a challenging road, and you deserve to have someone on your side no matter where you are in your journey. Whether you recently discontinued drug or alcohol use or are 15 years sober, Fash Counseling is here to help.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) states in its Detoxification and Substance Abuse Treatment Improvement Protocol that “nonmedical counseling is an integral part of substance abuse treatment”, and for good reason. Counseling first and foremost supports clients in developing healthy coping skills that help clients learn to cope with stressors without turning back to drugs and alcohol. Additionally, drug and alcohol counselors can help you develop and stick to a relapse prevention plan (RPP) to deal with stress, handle cravings, and cope with triggers.

Please note: if you are currently using drugs or alcohol and discontinuing use will cause withdrawals, please call 1-800-662-HELP for SAMHSA’s free and confidential hotline, available 24/7/365. You can also use their Services Locator to find a location for detoxification in a medically supervised environment. Fash Counseling is not a medical setting.

Counseling for family members of people with a substance use disorder

Although addiction is a disease, it can still be frustrating and painful to cope with as a family member. Even if you already know how to support your loved one who has a substance use disorder, that doesn’t mean you, too, don’t need mental health support. Aside from strained relationships, drug or alcohol abuse can impact families financially and emotionally, and even cause trauma for those living in the same home. You deserve professional support from someone who understands what you’re going through.
