Melissa Gray, MSW, LSW
Therapist
Hello — I’m Melissa Gray, a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in Illinois, and I provide therapy to clients both in person at our Bolingbrook office and through online/virtual therapy across Illinois. I work with individuals navigating trauma, grief, identity exploration, and the lasting impact of difficult or harmful experiences. My goal is to offer therapy that feels safe, affirming, and grounded in respect for each person’s lived experience.
I believe therapy should be a space where you don’t have to explain or defend who you are — where you can show up as yourself and be met with understanding, compassion, and care.

- Neurodivergent or exploring how their brain works in a world not always designed for them
- Part of the LGBTQIA+ community

My Approach to Therapy
When you begin therapy with me — whether in person or through online therapy — my priority is creating a space that feels emotionally safe, validating, and supportive. Many of the clients I work with have experienced situations where their needs, boundaries, or identities were not respected. Because of this, I approach therapy with care, patience, and a deep respect for your autonomy.
My therapeutic style is collaborative and trauma informed. I don’t believe in pushing clients to move faster than they’re ready or expecting healing to follow a linear path. Instead, we work together to explore your experiences, build insight, and develop coping tools that feel realistic and empowering.
Therapy with me is a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin making sense of what you’ve been through — at your own pace.
Who I Work With
Many of the clients I support come to therapy feeling:
- Emotionally overwhelmed or disconnected
- Impacted by past or ongoing trauma
- Grieving the loss of a person, relationship, identity, or sense of safety • Struggling to feel understood or accepted for who they are
I have a particular commitment to working with individuals who have experienced domestic violence and relational trauma. I also work closely with neurodivergent clients and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, offering affirming therapy that honors identity, neurodiversity, and personal truth.
Clinical Focus & Areas of Support
My clinical interests include:
- Trauma and recovery
- Domestic and interpersonal violence
- Grief and loss
- Identity exploration and self-acceptance
- Emotional regulation and coping skills
I use a trauma-informed, strengths-based lens to help clients reconnect with their resilience while acknowledging the real impact of their experiences. Therapy is not about “fixing” you — it’s about supporting healing, growth, and self-understanding in a way that feels sustainable.
In-Person & Online Therapy
I provide in-person therapy in Bolingbrook and virtual therapy throughout Illinois, offering flexibility and accessibility for clients with different needs and schedules. As a virtual therapist, I work to ensure that online therapy feels just as supportive, connected, and meaningful as in office sessions.
Whether we meet in person or virtually, my focus remains the same: creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and respect.
My Philosophy
I believe healing begins when people feel seen, believed, and supported. Therapy is a space where you deserve to be met with compassion — especially if you’ve experienced harm, loss, or invalidation. My role as a therapist is to walk alongside you, helping you rebuild a sense of safety, agency, and connection at a pace that feels right for you.
If you’re looking for a therapist in Bolingbrook or a virtual therapist in Illinois who is affirming, trauma-informed, and deeply respectful of your lived experience, I would be honored to support you.
You don’t have to navigate this alone — support is available, and healing is possible.
